Free range: Mutton and lamb


Organic free range mutton is sometimes not as tender as lamb, but somewhat more tasty because of a little longer grazing the seasonal variety on offer on the veld. However because the lambs are on open pasture the taste very quickly becomes indiscernible from the mutton. Lamb is not baby sheep, there’s just a few months’ difference. We do not allow sheep to grow old on the veld, rather keeping to a strict regime of providing meat that is tasty as well as tender. Pastured meat cooks at lower temperature, and at least 25% faster than grain fed meat, so take care not to overcook your pastured meat!
