The mixed greens and tomatillos plus herbs and radish scapes are packaged so that you can change an ordinary salad into a taste sensation, just add tomato, cucumber, feta, olives by choice. Open-crown lettuce varieties that have all their leaves open to the sun build up resilience to disease and sun damage, which is what gives them their nutritional value, and valuable anti-oxidants. For more substance we add to the mix the other green leaves and herbs to make up a delightful and great tasting salad. Cleaned and sliced for your convenience. Not peeled, because per weight the peel contains a larger proportion of nutritional elements – and not peeling also improves taste and appearance. Combo changes according to what is available. Just steam or boil, do not overcook, all that is needed is a few minutes just with soft veg then add potatoes etc for another 10 – 15 minutes, then serve with a sprinkling of sea salt and melted butter. To bake, drizzle with a little olive oil, add some chicken stock and bake covered for 10 minutes to dampen then bake open for an hour or so until it gets a little dry and sticky. Makes a good potjie.

Julienned cabbage plus red cabbage when available and grated carrots, ready for use. Includes delicious homemade mayonnaise which contains organic free range egg, vegetable oil, white wine vinegar, Dijonette mustard, sugar and seasoning. Or use the cabbage to add to your stir fry or mixed salad pack, and free up the mayo for something else!

Beautiful heirloom varieties, peeled, sliced ready-to-use and packaged. (No wife/mother should have to peel their own!) Steam or briefly boil and serve with butter sauce, add freshly chopped herbs eg thyme or chives, or fresh lemon. Roast and serve, or puree roasted pumpkin on which to plate up your food. Boil, sprinkle salt, smother with a savoury white sauce. Or make fritters for a side dish, or one step further, for dessert with cinnamon. Recipe = 2 cups pumpkin cooked and mashed with a fork only. Add 2 eggs beaten with 50ml milk. Then add 1 cup flour, 1 t baking powder 1/2 t salt, mix by hand. Fry generous spoonsful in deep oil, like vetkoek. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar. The best fritters ever!
